Ethel Deak passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the South Health Campus at the age of 98 years.

Ethel was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1952 and her two sons Andrew Deak in 2011 and Frank Dennis Deak in 2013. She was also predeceased by her siblings Martin Kunn, Nick Kunn, Margaret Rothermal, and Steve Kunn. Ethel will be dearly remembered by two grandchildren Juniper "Jon" Miller (BC) and Keven Sherwood (Calgary); nine nieces and nephews Bob Kunn, Nick Kunn Jr., Donna Baldwin, Sharon Sieben, Rod Overdulve, Mark "Tim" Overdulve, Kelly Overdulve, Sharla McLean, and Shelly McLean; and a larger extended family.

Ethel was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada with her family as a young girl. She lived for periods of time in Raymond AB, Mission BC, and for the past many years in Calgary. Her husband Mike passed away at a young age leaving her to raise their two boys on her own. Upon moving to Calgary Ethel began working for the Calgary Stampede Board where she loyally worked for many years. Ethel was a woman with a pure soul and loved by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held for Ethel at Pierson's Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
