Zane Edward Blanchard Fisher

August 13, 1991 - August 7, 2018
Born in Calgary
Resided in Calgary, Alberta

Zane's was a fascinating adventure that began on the 13th day of August 1991. From a very young age, he lived each day like it was the end. His superpower was in bringing the magic of life to every moment and discovering 'what is the joy' in each of us. He was vivacious, authentic, deep, fiercely loyal; a friend who was always there. In his photographic creativity, as "Captain Kodak", he captured his essence through many lenses. Zane was a modern day sage who loved a good debate of humanity's definition of success and failure. His energy was contagious and we keep him alive by living the life he imagined for each of us.

Zane passed away instantly on the highway home with a friend early in the morning of Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born and raised in Calgary, on Oakridge Place SW, a cul-du-sac where 22 children kicked the can and rang the bell of Life! Zane was in no hurry to adopt 'status quo' as he made the MRU Dean's List in 2016 and in 2018, received a letter 'encouraging' him to complete his timeless studies by 2019. As a seasoned professional waiter at Alloy Restaurant, he enjoyed a lifestyle, camaraderie and love for sharing food and service that fueled his desire for people to "Live it up. You are alive."

Zane existed in a world where we all engage, serve and collaborate with amazing people. You know that this is not a story about 'I wish' or 'sorry'. Our son was filled up with love every day. This is a story about a life fully-lived. We were lucky to have him for nearly 27 years.

He will be with us - parents Jon and Janica Fisher; sister Payton Fisher, all of Calgary; grandmother Audrey Fisher of Cobourg, ON; aunts and uncles Darlene Desgagne (Daniel), Wayne Foster (Jacqueline), Shalley Reyns (Kim Harvey), Roberta Silcock (Kevin Morley), Leo Reyns, Gary Silcock; and many cousins, other relatives and cherished friends. Zane was predeceased by grandparents Norm and Pat Blanchard, and Jon and Gertrude Fisher.

To honor Zane, a private gathering of his friends will be held where we laugh, cry and share the stories that made Zane.

If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to "Humanity in Practice" - (, click: Want to Help, Current Projects, Donate, at search "Humanity in Practice", follow prompts) who will dedicate funds received to a specific Zane Fisher Community Project.
