Agnes Olive Reed (Nee Smorlie)

Agnes Reed passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the age of 92 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 70 years, Don; children, Ron (Carole) of Richmond, BC, dianne of Calgary, Bradley of England & Curtis (Laurie) of Calgary; 10 grandchildren, Thea, Katie, Arah, Kaija, Christopher, Matthew, Joshua, Samantha, Harrison & Lilie; along with several great-grandchildren and extended family, especially niece, Sandi (Tom) & nephew, David, and cousins Oran (Marlene), Merlyn (Linda), and Elaine (Peter). Agnes is predeceased by one sister, Connie.

Agnes was born near Holden, AB and grew up in the Camrose area. After graduating from high school, she worked as a legal stenographer for about five years. She met Don, they married in the mid 50’s & eventually moved to Calgary – first to Acadia, then to Lake Bonavista, & had resided the last 20 years at Prince of Peace Village.

Agnes enjoyed working for the Calgary Board of Education as a Library Assistant. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener & quilter. Over the years, she made many, many quilts, some of which were for family and some were provided to those in need. Agnes was a devoted wife and mother. She was very family oriented, & known for hosting large family gatherings. She was also active in her church community where she and Don made long time, close friendships. Volunteerism was always an important part of her life.

Agnes will be missed by many.

A Memorial Service will be held for Agnes at Ascension Lutheran Church (1432 – 19 St NE, Calgary) on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Burial to follow at Parkland Lutheran Church in Camrose County, AB.
