Calgary, Alberta

Albina Krause, beloved mother, grandmother and good friend to many, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Albina was born in Rodef, Alberta where she grew up on the family farm near St. Michael, Alberta along with three sisters Sophie, Adeline, Victoria and brother, Frank. Upon graduation from high school, Albina attended the University of Alberta. Prior to completing her degree, Albina started to raise a family of three boys in Edmonton, Alberta: Delbert, Lewis and David. Albina returned to the University of Alberta and completed her Bachelor of Education degree in 1969.

In 1970 Albina and her family moved to Calgary, Alberta where she spent the remainder of her life. Albina joined the Catholic School Board and taught young students throughout her life. Albina enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life. Albina spent a great deal of rewarding time with family and friends. Albina was naturally outgoing, reinforcing existing friendships and creating new friends along the way. Albina hosting university students or greeting new members at the retirement lodge were part of her life.

An accomplished card player, Albina was an active member of the “bridge ladies”, often travelling to warm places for weekends of bridge. An avid traveller, Albina travelled all over the world with close friends and family. Albina was always open to adventure and exploring new places, whether it was a camping trip of which she was particularly fond, a cruise, or flying to an interesting destination such as Paris and Tokyo. Albina left no stone unturned in her 89 years.

Albina is survived by her children, Delbert (Connie), Lewis (Candace) and David; grandchildren, Cohen, Philip and Jackson. She is also survived by her sister Victoria (Ed) Tomusiak, and numerous nieces and nephews. Albina was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Kazimir Stokowski, brother Frank Stokowski, sisters Adeline Fedun and Sophie Dziwenko.

In keeping with Albina's wishes, there will be no formal service at this time, however, a Celebration of Life will be held later this year.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity in Albina’s honour.
