Alice Dorraine Schneider passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the age of 96, after a long battle with lung cancer. She passed in Calgary, Alberta surrounded by her family.
Alice was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on October 12, 1928 to her loving parents William and Emma Hill, brother Dick Hill and sister Eunice Baum. She would always tell stories of her childhood, spending lots of time with her brother and tormenting him. They moved to Calgary, Alberta later on where Alice found herself working on the Colpitts Dairy Farm, and delivering mail on her bike during the war. Alice married Arnold Schneider on May 23,1951 till his passing in October, 1985. She worked various jobs that included the Garden Court in Chinook Center, the Calgary Airport and the Army and Navy Club. Alice retired at the young age of 55 from the Army and Navy Club where she met a lot of her good friends.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Arnold, son Wayne and grandson Jason. Alice was a loving mother to her 3 sons, Wayne (Verl), Gord (Rose), Greg (Tracy) and daughter Leanne (Larry). She had an abundance of love for her grandchildren, Marla (Brian), Judy (Jeff), Shari (Jody), Cindy (Jeff), Billie (Dean), Jaime (Danny), Brandy, Michelle (Rob), Justin and Leslie (Justin). Alice was also an amazing great grandmother to 16 and a great-great grandmother to 3, with 1 on the way.
Alice loved traveling around in her trailer with many friends and family. She would travel to many rodeos and chuck wagon races in and around Alberta with her driving buddy Ida and friends John and Fran, with her biggest trip being Alaska. You would always find Alice glued to the TV during hockey season watching her Flames kick ass. During the off season she would enjoy the Olympics, boxing, football and was looking forward to the World Junior’s, playing after Christmas. Her most recent passion was watching the Professional Women's Hockey League. Alice enjoyed her outings to get her nails done and her weekly trips to her favourite hairstylist Robin. She loved going out for dinner with her family, spending her weekends eating great food and enjoying laughs around the fire. You could never go to the casino without her or enjoy a meal without her needing to throw a 20 into the VLT’s.
A celebration of Alice's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Pierson’s Funeral Home (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, T2A 0T1) with a luncheon to follow.
