It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother , Anne Munro. Mom was born in Calgary on January 16, 1919 and lived a full and happy life. She worked in the hospitality and service industry, including being the first female bell hop in Calgary at the Wales Hotel. For 8 years she ran an elevator at the Palliser, where she got to meet many high rollers. She ended her career cooking at the YMCA, one of her favorite jobs. Mother is survived by her son Jack Herron (Diane), daughter Betty Gillette (Lorne) and her son Jim, plus five generations of descendants. Mom was pre deceased by David, her husband of 47 years, and by her sister, Mary. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6-7 PM. Interment will take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11AM at Queens Park cemetery and will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 PM at Piersons Funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Poppy fund. Her life was the melody and she was the dance.
