It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arnold Vermette, who left us to be in the arms of God, on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to his loving parents, Dave and Nada (Nettie) Vermette. Arnold was the second oldest of three children. His two sisters, Bernice and Florence, cherished him dearly.
In the 1970s, Arnold made his way to Calgary, where he dedicated many years of service to the City of Calgary as a driver and maintenance worker, retiring after a fulfilling career.
Arnold was a happy, joyful man, who always had a smile on his face and a kind heart. Arnold's favourite thing to do was spending time with his daughter Cindy, who he thoroughly enjoyed and who brought him much happiness and who he loved dearly. They liked to spend time together, taking little road trips and enjoying the sites while playing road games. Arnold liked to collect all kinds of little trinkets, he also enjoyed working on the many automobiles that he owned over the years and was very sentimental and a man of god, and often sweetly said "God bless" to you. He held dear the values of family and faith. His unwavering faith and compassion were central to his life, and his love for his family was boundless.
Arnold will be greatly missed by his family: sister, Florence Vermette and her three children John Vermette, Todd Lewis and Anna Vermette; nieces and nephews, Wayne Lewis, Donna Lewis, Iris Lubyk, Eunice Lewis, Bryson Anderson, Sandy Anderson and their families; and stepdaughter, Susan Wilkie. Arnold was predeceased by his loving daughter, Cindy Vermette; his parents, Dave and Nettie Vermette; wife, Florence Harper; sister, Bernice Lewis; stepson, John Berze.
Arnold’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him and to experience his kindness and blessings.
Rest in peace, uncle Arnold. You are deeply loved, will be dearly missed and are forever in our hearts.
