Arthur J. Lamirande “Art” passed away in Calgary, Alberta on September 21st, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Art was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the 15th of December, 1956. He grew up in Winnipeg and after graduating high school in 1975, he moved west to Calgary. He met Diana and they married in 1978. They had 3 children and life was busy.
Art worked in the Precast Concrete industry most of his life.
Art enjoyed sports throughout his life, whether it was watching, playing, coaching or managing the kid’s teams. He would later enjoy just watching his grandchildren at whatever sport they were participating in. His favorites were baseball and hockey. Although Art wasn’t much of a talker and didn’t express his emotions much, his family was the most important thing in his life. He was very proud of each and every one of them.
Art was survived by his wife of 43 years, Diana Lamirande (nee Olsen) and three children, Paul (Bianca) Lamirande, Lisa (Jay) Clark and Kyle Lamirande; 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Brooklyn and Lincoln Lamirande and Avery, Emmersyn and Harper Clark. He is also survived by his mother, Rose Blumhagen; brothers, Clovis Lamirande, Chuck (Karen) Lamirande, Earl Lamirande and Kurt (Christina) Blumhagen along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Art’s name to the Southwood Hospice or the High River Cancer Centre.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at the various facilities with a special thanks to the staff at the Southwood Hospice for his care in the final 6 weeks of his life.
