Benjamin Gerald Jacob Beans

January 23, 1975 — November 27, 2023

Benjamin Gerald Jacob Beans born January 23, 1975, in Alert Bay, BC passed away suddenly November 27, 2023 in St. Albert, AB.

Ben was predeceased by his mother, Gloria June Beans of Turnour Island, BC, father, Simon Moses Beans of Alert Bay, BC, his late brother, Simon Peter Beans of Alert Bay, BC and his father-in-law, Roy William Davidson of Calgary, AB.

Ben is survived by his spouse, Renee Lynn Hoyle of Calgary, AB, nieces, Stephanie Theresa Beans of Alert Bay, BC (Danicca), and Angelina Emma Christine Beans of Nanaimo, BC (Ella, Ava, Brooklyn, Hayden and Payton).

Both Bens sides of his family, the Fred and Beans side have many aunts, uncles, cousins, brother and sisters to name but Ben loved and cherished each one of them equally.

In his younger years, Ben took on the family trade and engaged in becoming a fisherman and took a shine to this. Not only did he help in aiding the crew with their life risking task at hand of sometimes battling the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean, but it was here that he began his obsession with food and cooking!

If you did not see a post on Facebook of what Ben was having for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you knew he was up to no good!

Ben was the jack of all trades, a fisherman, carpenter, crab fisherman, labourer and near the end, an iron worker. He took pride in everything he attempted and accomplished in life. He was rich in accomplishment.

Ben met the love of his life, Renee in 1983, attended Tlisalagi’lakw School in the same classroom as her in 1986. It wasn’t until 2012 that Renee re-entered Bens’ life in Alert Bay, it was there they became one. Their life was full of the unknown, faced with obstacles and hurdles but kept walking through fires together and came out on the other side unscathed. They had a love so strong that only fair tales were made of.

Ben moved to Calgary in the spring of 2018 due to the loss Renee’s mother. Ben did not want her to be alone to look after her ailing father. Ben took on the role as caregiver to both Renee and his father in law, Roy. Roy recently passed January 1, 2023 and Ben felt this great emptiness in his life in regards to the passing of his best friend.

Ben and Renee traveled and went on many adventures together. You would rarely see them apart. Although Bens passing was unexpected, their love story will continue to grow.

Ben had a passion for life. He lit up a room when he entered it. You could always catch Ben on his phone calling and checking in on loved ones, lending a helping hand on his block or listening to his favourite tunes. His love for live and people was capturing, warm hearted, deep and intense.

There is not a person in this world that had the honour of meeting Ben where he did not have an impact on their life moving forward. His passing comes with great loss but with much more joyful memories and stories as he move on to the next journey of his life.

Farewell to another angel gone too soon!
