“Sam” Bernard Garth Braund, 60, of Calgary, passed away Sunday January 8, 2017 at home with his daughter Leah, son-in-law Mike and dearest friend Don at his side. He was born in Guelph, Ontario on January 29, 1956 to his proud parents Gerald and Hilda (Noble) Braund who are predeceased as well as his brother Doug and the love of his life Diane Hall. He is survived by his sister Karen, sister in law Carolyn, brother in laws Alvin (Ronda) & Larry (Debbie), daughter Leah (Mike), son Steven Hall (Trish), many grand children, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who all loved him dearly. Sam was a social butterfly, he would always say, then laugh, “I have so many friends, friends I haven’t even met yet!”. He enjoyed the simple things in life, family and friends gathering together, sun tanning in the backyard, and having a laugh around the fire. He loved sports, especially hockey and football, his favorite teams were the Toronto Maple Leafs and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was an avid collector of many things, especially sports memorabilia, persistent to get the whole collection for any set. He was always willing to give anyone a hand, had a heart of gold, putting others before himself, an angel that will be truly missed. A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 286, located at #5, 1107 – 33 Street NE, Calgary, AB, T2A 6T2, 403-280-4264.
