Hudson, Blaine Leon May 5, 1929 – September 22, 2014
Blaine Leon Hudson passed away peacefully with his wife Viola at his side on Monday Sept 22, 2014 at the age of 85 years. He is also lovingly remembered by their children Karren (Michael) Boone, Barbara (Max) Wiebe, Douglas (Andrea), Patricia (Leon) Bevans, Margaret (Elio) Ciavardini, Rodney (Jan), Steven (Karen) and Timothy (Rose). His legacy includes 42 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, all of whom he cherished. Blaine was predeceased by his parents Ella Rose and Eldred Leon Hudson; brothers Derrel and Gordon; and a sister, Norma Asplund. Blaine was born in Magrath Alberta. As a teenager, he toured Europe with the air cadets. After returning, he spent two years as a school teacher and then served full time mission in South Africa. Upon his return, he married his sweetheart Viola Oviatt, who “always lifted his spirits”. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelors degree in Commerce and received his Chartered Accountant designation soon after. He founded Hudson & Company Insolvency Trustees and received great satisfaction in helping clients through their difficulties. Blaine was always in the service of others through his callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which included Home Teacher, Bishop, Stake President, Regional Representative, Mission President (Cape Town, South Africa) and his personal favorite, Sunday School Gospel Doctrine Teacher. His personal interests include waterskiing, boating, and building, all of which he enjoyed at Shuswap Lake. He was generous with his time and means and was known by many to be a man of honesty and integrity, kindness and loyalty, obedience and optimism. Our sadness is tempered by our faith in an eternal reunion with our dear Blaine. A Visitation will be held for Blaine at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, West Stake Centre (6560 Silver Springs Crescent NW, Calgary) on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing from 12:45 – 1:40 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Perpetual Education Fund (donate.lds.org).
