Blaine Richard Vadnais

September 10, 1941 — May 9, 2024

Medicine Hat, Alberta

On Thursday, May 9, 2024 Mr. Blaine Richard Vadnais of Medicine Hat, Alberta went to be with his Lord at the age of 82 years.

Born and raised in Claresholm, Alberta, our dad spent most of his career working in the oil and gas industry as an electrician, instrumentation designer, and a compression station operator and journeyman. Blaine's career took him to various locations in Alberta including Fort McLeod, Princess, Coleman, and finally Carstairs where he dedicated two decades of his life to the community.

Blaine wasn’t just a worker; he was a giver. Thousands of volunteer hours were devoted to coaching athletic teams in Carstairs. Baseball diamonds and basketball courts became his canvas, where he nurtured young talents and instilled values beyond the game.

Later, Blaine settled in Medicine Hat, continuing his commitment to the community. Lifelong friendships blossomed, and he became a familiar face around town. His joy was found in simple pleasures: spending time with his children and eventually sharing those precious moments with his grandchildren.

Summers were filled with family adventures, camping trips, laughter by the fire, and visits to his siblings across Alberta and British Columbia. The lake held memories of many boating adventures, where Blaine enjoyed the company of friends and loved ones. He found pleasure in fishing, watching hockey and baseball, and engaging in basketball discussions with his children.

Blaine had so many skills; whether he was fixing a leaky faucet or offering sage advice on a project. But it was his heart that truly stood out. His laughter echoed through the years, and his bear hugs wrapped us all in warmth.
As we say goodbye, we honor the strength he brought to our lives. His legacy is etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

Blaine will be lovingly remembered by his children Janet and her husband Andrew Barr of Cochrane, Alberta,  Shelley and her husband Darrell Coutu of St. Paul, Minnesota, Richard Vadnais and his wife Shannon of Chestermere, Alberta, Todd Vadnais and his wife Christina of Lake Country, British Columbia;  twelve grandchildren Sydney (Alex) Schow of Cardston, Alberta, Rachel (Nolan) Morrison of Diamond Valley, Alberta, Hannah (Jorgen) Thompson of Lethbridge, Alberta, Brendan (Kajsa) Coutu of Lansing, Michigan, Tyler (Lindy) Coutu of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mitchell (Parker) Coutu of Oceanside, California, Evan Coutu of Alexandria, Virginia, Alexander (Alie) Coutu of Phoenix, Arizona, Justin (Taylor) Vadnais, Korbyn Vadnais, Logan Vadnais of Lake Country, British Columbia, Zyryah Vadnais of Lake Country, British Columbia;  ten great-grandchildren; one brother Arnold (Bonnie) Vadnais of Kamloops, British Columbia; and one sister Sharal of Saskatchewan.

Blaine is predeceased by his parents Kathryn Baird and Richard Albert Vadnais; siblings Allen, Lawrence, Rose, Joyce, Annette, Leonard, Robert, Gail.
