Candice Lynn Meeches

May 6, 1974 — February 16, 2019

It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Candice Lynn Meeches on February 16, 2019 at the age of 44 years. Candice was predeceased by her grandparents Arthur and Dorothy Meeches; mother Mavis Mauren Meeches; sister Brett Meeches; and cousins Lakea Dorothy Pauline Meeches and Nathanial Sky Meeches. It gives us joy knowing that Candice has now joined her loving family who have predeceased her. She will be lovingly remembered by her father Paul Wayne McLean, father of her children Wesley Burnhart; daughter Chantee Meeches; son Jordon Meeches (Chantal); grandson Jameson Meeches; sister Lindsey Meeches; brothers Brandon Meeches and Moses McLean; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Candy was the only grandchild that Grandma Dorothy ever held. Grandma Dorothy was so proud, she doted over her constantly. Candice was precious and will always be. Surrounded by love from day one, seldom in need of wants, this love always followed her. Never a day went by when she wasn’t in her family’s thoughts. A band member of Long Plain Indian Reservation, MB, Candice resided in Calgary, AB. She carried herself with pride as an Anishinaabe woman. Outspoken and strong, with an uncanny wisdom within herself, she led with courage. A quick wit was her charm. Her laughter unmistakable, “You’re #1 and you know it Indian Girl”, as her dad would say. She will be dearly missed, never forgotten. “It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone, for a part of us went with you the day God called you home.”

A celebration of Candice’s life will be held at Creek Park, AB in the summer of 2019, where a tree will be planted and her ashes spread. In lieu of honorables, please take some time to spread kindness to someone in need in your community. A special thank you to Chief Dennis Meeches and band council for their everlasting support whenever requested. To all of those who hold Candice in their hearts, miigwetch.
