Carol Ann Simonin

December 23, 1938 — May 8, 2020

Carol Ann Simonin (née Mahoney) passed away in Calgary on May 08,2020. Carol was born December 23rd, 1938 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan to Mary and Thomas Mahoney. She was the 5th of 8 Mahoney kids. Carol was always a happy child and knew what she wanted in life. She attended a girls only convent for schooling and took up Hair Styling as a profession. She always had the latest and greatest hair colour and style! In 1964 she headed West and landed in Calgary. She met the love of her life Raymond during Stampede Party in 1963. Their love blossomed quickly and they married April 11, 1964. They stayed living in Calgary and had three Daughters Michelle Simonin (Derek Safnuk), Colleen Dyck (Randy), and Tracey Thompson (Brent). Carol’s favorite things in life were her family. She loved her six Grandchildren Paul Thompson, Mackenzie Dyck, Jason Thompson, Nicole Dyck, Leah Thompson, and Matthew Dyck and they were her everything. Her and Ray were avid crib players and could never pass up a rodeo if one was in town. They traveled in their retirement years going across Canada and especially loving Newfoundland and spending a few winters in Penticton BC. Life changed when her beloved Ray passed away November 2013. Her last few years were spent at Seton Age Care and most recently Newport Harbors. We thank all the staff for taking such great care of our Mama Bear. Carol will be cremated and the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

You fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. You are free and have your memories back and are finally with Dad.

Love Michelle, Colleen and Tracey
