It is with great sadness that we announce our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Cindy Lee Olson (Nee Banks) passed away on April 9th 2014 at the age of 54. Predeceased by her loving parents, Robert and Judy Banks, Cindy is survived by her daughters: Candace Banks (Chris Doheny) and Robyn Olsen (Dennis Simsek); son: Ryan Olsen; her grandchildren: Tegwyn, Julia, Jozie and Hayat; siblings: Syd, Randy, Barry, Terry and Doug Banks, Penny Meldrum and Lori Dewar as well as their loving families; last, but not least, her best friend Blue, the Mexican Chihuahua from Saskatchewan. Cindy was a true blooded Calgarian born and raised. She lived her entire life here, watching quietly as the city grew around her. She loved to tell stories from back in her day. Her favorite past times were bowling at Chinook Bowling lane with “her girls” on Tuesday nights and taking trips to Wetaskiwin, Innisfial and Kelowna to visit family. Cindy made a career for herself in customer service and through that made many friends and touched many lives. We would like to thank the team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for the care they gave our Mom over the last four years as well as nurse Jay and his team at Airdrie Home Care and Nurse Lori and her team at Calgary Home Care for all the support they offered Cindy and our family during her last weeks: you are all tremendous people. Cindy will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
