Clara Loreen Fergusson (née Knowles)

It is with a heavy heart that we tell you of our mother's passing. Clara Loreen Fergusson passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, with her family at her side at the age of 90 years old.

Clara was born on July 12, 1934 and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After falling in love with the love of her life Robert (Bert) Fergusson they got married on February 27, 1953 in Winnipeg and then moved to Calgary, Alberta to start their lives together.

Together, they raised and will be dearly missed by 3 wonderful children, Bruce (Pat) Fergusson, Loreen (Tom) Alcock and Bev Fergusson; 3 grandchildren, Tracey Warren (Jay Culver), Amanda Johnson, and Ashley Warren; as well as 4 great-grandchildren Aliza and Katrina Culver and Xander and Brylynn Ricketts. She will also be remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and so many wonderful friends. Clara was predeceased by her parents, Robert (Eldred) and Lillian Knowles; grandson, Sigmund (Siggy) Fergusson; and her wonderful husband of 60 years Robert (Bert) Fergusson.

During Clara's life she first worked in Winnipeg at the Canadian Wheat Board and then after moving to Calgary she was employed at various companies like Woolco, Sports Chek, Mutart Lumber, Sungold Cabinets, Livingston Border Brokers Exports where she cleared the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics Panda Bears XiXi and Qun Qun back to China. She also worked at United Chair and Furniture (UCF) from where she retired. Clara also worked with her husband Bert at Phoenix Metals until he sold the company and they officially retired together.

An active volunteer, Clara was a devoted member of the 286 Legion, serving in several committees and leadership roles, including her cherished time selling poppies at Walmart before Remembrance Day. She was also a proud member of the 284 Legion until her passing.

Some of Clara's happiest memories were spent with Bert in the Windermere Valley, B.C., where they golfed and socialized with family and friends, especially during their retirement.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at Pierson"s Funeral Service (4121 17th Ave. S.E., Calgary, Alberta) on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
