Cory Victor Lyddiatt

March 28, 1977 — December 23, 2023

Blackfalds, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Cory Lyddiatt announce his sudden passing after his battle with cancer on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the age of 46.

Cory will be lovingly remembered by his spouse DeeDee Eresman and her daughter Xaydee; father Ron, brother Adam; “Mom” Barb Sutcliffe her husband Dan, sisters Emily, Chelsea, Siobhan, Sarah, Eilis and little brother Allan; as well as numerous relatives and lifelong friends in Ontario and Alberta.

Cory is predeceased by his Gram Peggy Marr, his brother Kurt, Uncle Stan; grandparents Beatrice and Albert Lyddiatt; and his friend Brad Ricker.

Cory was born March 28, 1977 in Parry Sound, Ontario to Ronald Lyddiatt and Julie Nicholas. He grew up in Southern Ontario where the majority of his family still lives. As a boy his easy smile won him friends, and his charm and loyalty kept those friends close. His energy and sense of humour made life interesting for his family, friends and anyone who met him.

At 18 years Cory moved to Calgary, Alberta where he quickly made friends and worked at different jobs. Always on the move and not afraid to try new things, he eventually found his career and passion in the oilfield. He worked with Nabors/Ensign Drilling for many years. Eventually Cory decided he needed a body that matched his big personality. Working out and weight lifting earned him the title Uncle Hulk with his nieces and nephews. Never one to sit still, Cory used his many skills to build, remodel and flip houses when he wasn’t on the rig.

Cory reacted to his diagnosis of lymphoma like anything else in his life - he took on the challenge.  Cory knew he wasn’t alone in this and took strength from his family, “his brothers”, his friends and the many messages and offers of support that he received. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for all the care and support they gave Cory in the past six months.

A Celebration of Life is planned in Calgary on Monday, January 15, 2024, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Highwood Community Hall, 16 Harlow Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta.

A Celebration of Life is planned in Dunnville, Ontario on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Dunnville Branch #142, 305 Queen Street, Dunnville, Ontario.
