Damien Milton passed away on Thursday March 31, 2022 at the age of 24 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Gaba; Chance, his beloved dog; siblings, Martin, Michelle (Nlisi) & Kay; nieces and nephew, Hazel, Khiana, Hugh, Anaya, Azha and Ella. Damien is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Kelly Milner.
Damien was born in and spent his early years in Gaborone, Botswana before the family immigrated to Canada. Growing up in Calgary, he attended Colonel Irvine School then John G. Diefenbaker High School. Damien continued into post secondary education first at SAIT where he studied to be an Electrician Journeyman. He earned a Bachelor of Psychology through his studies at St. Mary’s University and Athabasca University.
He worked at Bigstone Cree Nation as a Mental Health Counsellor then at Simon House Recovery Centre.
Damien was a gym fanatic. He loved fast cars, looking ‘sleek’, all genres of music and fixing things he broke in the first place. He was good at a lot things – soccer, entertaining his nieces and nephew. He was intelligent both academically and streetwise. He was good with words and people. However, Damien was also not so good at some things. He claimed he could play basketball. He was not a great cook and he was a terrible dancer and singer.
Most importantly, he had a kind and caring heart. He was an advocate for mental health and he treated people well. He was funny and found humour in everything.
A gift is on the way – his first child with his girlfriend, Kinsey Sequin, due at the end of this summer.
A Funeral Service will be held for Damien at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
