Dandy Bearspaw Amos

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Dandy Amos was called home by our Creator on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 72.

Dandy was born in Eden Valley, AB and was the son of Dick and Julia Amos, whose father was King Bearspaw, whose father was Moses Bearspaw, who was the son of the Great Chief Jacob Bearspaw. Dandy received his education from the MacDougal Orphanage Residential School. He strongly believed in his traditional culture and was a Medicine Man and a Pipe Carrier. He became a Councilor in the 80’s and was a proud member of the RCMP. Dandy had the honor of being a former Chief for the Bearspaw Band.

Dandy is survived by his children, Jolie, Ian (Lawanda), Lorna, Aimee, Laura (Murphy), Padget, Sonny and Eric; 24 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; special granddaughter, Shaylee; adopted children, Joni (Eric H.), Arlene and Betty Paul, Chris (Tinena), Clifford Jr. (Josette), Lisa Powderface and numerous extended family and friends. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Dandy was predeceased by his wife, Greta Amos; parents, Dick and Julia Amos, brothers, Richard and Wilfred; sister, Victoria; sons, Andre and Gregory; daughter, Florette; adopted son, Daryle; 1 grandson; adopted family, Sam and Paulene Paul; step-daughter, Renee and adopted sister, Victoria Mark.

Wake Services will be held at the Residence of the late Dandy and Greta Amos (Morley, AB) on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2:00pm and Monday, August 30, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at the Residence of Cornela Amos (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 1:00pm. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Morley, AB). Traditional Feast to follow back at the Residence.
