It is with heavy hearts that the family of Darlene Gayle Logan announce her peaceful passing on April 6, 2018 with her beloved son by her side. Darlene is survived by her son Shawn Logan and his wife Amanda; her precious grandchildren, Madeleine and Casey; brother Ron Logan; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Earl and Louisa Logan, brother Earl and her sisters, Ruth and Audrey.
Darlene’s quiet demeanor hid a fierce determination, and she lived a life of constant sacrifice to provide for her son. After becoming a victim of the oil downturn in the 1980s, Darlene reinvented herself, ultimately joining the federal civil service where she gave 21 years of loyal service before retiring. Soon after her retirement, she began what would be the most rewarding time of her life, that of a grandmother. She loved nothing more than spoiling her beloved Madeleine and Casey, who never failed to bring a smile to her face.
Darlene’s final days were spent surrounded by family, laughing, reminiscing and still finding unexpected ways to spoil her grandkids, her passion until the end. Her family would like to provide their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Southwood Hospice, whose professionalism and grace ensured Darlene remained comfortable up until her last breath. While flowers are appreciated, family ask that memorial contributions be considered for Southwood Hospice.
