Dean Charles Turning Robe

Born in Brooks, AB on August 28, 1963, and passed away in Calgary, AB on November 24, 2019.

With great sadness we announce the passing of our only Male Matriarch of Our Turning Robe Clan. Dean was resilient, a fighter, fun loving, caring, compassionate, with a sense of humour and a devout Roman Catholic. Dean made his spiritual journey to reunite with his parents Charlie and Gertrude Turning Robe.

Dean leaves behind his wife Wanda Turning Robe (nee Cayenne); he was a loving father to Charles (Deidre), Dean Jr. (Savannah), Tommy (Jenneen), Anthony (Ryan), and Conrad; his sisters Elizabeth (Dave), Joan (Charles), and Charlene; his adopted sister Wendy Pierce; his adopted brother John Yellow Sun and Buddy the dog; his auntie Pat Yellow Sun; nieces and nephews Tracey Turning Robe, Bobbi Jo (Francis), Emiline (Dwight), Dawn (Cody), Brian Jr. (Tristan); Cheyenne, Jesse, Charmaine (Dakota), Joshua, and Christian; his grandchildren Gabriel, Charles Jr., Kaiya, Daryus, Tommy Jr., Tidus, Sunshine, Makoyee, Cinthia, Olivia, Mia, Carter and Susie the cat.

Dean is predeceased by his parents Charlie (1972) and Gertrude (2014) Turning Robe; Stan Gaudry (1998), Amber Turning Robe (2008); and Rose Alma Manyshots (2013).

Dean had an extensive extended family from Siksika and the United States. Manyshots, Yellow Sun, Breaker, Axe, Turning Robe, Big Snake, Leather, Many Fires, Waterchief. If we have missed any families, we apologize as Dean had many extended family. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the numerous doctors and nurses at The Foothills Hospital, Tom Baker Center Unit 37, who cared and had such great compassion for Dean.

Dean’s wake service will be held at on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm for family, and public after 5:00 pm at the Siksika Community Center, Gliechen. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church – Siksika Nation (Box 204, Cluny), with a feast to follow.
