With great sadness we announce the passing of Cpl. (retired) Donald “Don” Steven Syroid on Thursday, August 25, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 69.
Don was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and lived in Calgary at the time of his passing.
Don was a proud military veteran who served his country for over twenty years with the Canadian Armed Forces. Don served both at home and abroad while stationed in various Countries and communities throughout his career. Don was an avid historian and had a passion for war history. His desire to advocate for military veterans and honor the sacrifices of those who served also carried into his allegiance as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Don was a man of tradition and faith and was devoted to the Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Don is survived by his two daughters, Katrina Syroid of Calgary, Alberta and Tiffany (Melissa) Petite of Kelowna, British Columbia. Don was also a proud grandfather to Brayden Carslon, Natalie Furlan, Marcus Petite, and Katherine Petite. Don was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Stefan Syroid; son, Steven Campbell; sister, Anna Myhra; nephew, Colby; and brother, Ross Syroid.
