Donald Ralph Mercier

. With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Donald “Don” Ralph Mercier on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 59 years.

Don was born in Calgary, Alberta and lived there most of his life.

Family was everything to Don. He treasured spending time with them and engaging in great conversation. He took his role as husband and father as his biggest responsibility and joy. He was known for his gentle, sweet nature, dimply smile and sparkly eyes. He endured many health challenges in his life which he took on with great courage and tenacity. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many capacities. He served a two year mission in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania/West Virginia which was life changing for him. He was also very involved in scouting and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with the scouts. He was a man of great faith who lived what he believed.

Don is survived by his wife of 30 years Vaedra Mercier; sons, Jacob and Cole Mercier; father Donald Mercier; sister Karen Davis (Todd); brother Jason Mercier (Sharon); mother-in-law Carolyn Cole; sisters-in-law Tammy Cole and Kelleigh Cole as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother Ardele Mercier and many other treasured relatives. His “Little Grandma” Vera Oviatt and Aunt Beverly Oviatt were especially close with Don and he is now happily reunited with them.

A Memorial Service will be held for Donald at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - 44th Street Chapel (833 - 44 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 am.
