It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wapa tunk tunga/Donna Kaquitts, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, who left us peacefully on July 11, 2024. Donna was a cherished member of her Iyethka community and family, known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Josiah Kaquitts; her siblings, Georgie and Wilma Kaquitts; and her children, Gregson and Teresa. She also joins her predeceased grandchildren Pumpkin, Tanya, Terzon, and Jade in eternal rest.
She leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Donna is survived by her brother, Watson Kaquitts (Brenda), her sister, Alice Kaquitts, and her sister, Jeanette Wildman (Vidal Frencheater). She was the devoted mother to seven children: Edlyn Dodginghorse (Tyson Dodginghorse), Nadine Poucette, Oliver Kaquitts, Edgar Wesley-Beaver (Alyssa Ear), Ambrose Jr. Wesley-Beaver, and Jordana Wildman.
Donna’s legacy continues through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, totaling 133 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
Donna was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, including Betty, Dona Mae, Lowanda (Ian), Kim, Fran (Anthony), Chantel, Deanna (Charles), Angela Young, Waylon, Matthew (Marlyn), Harvey, Torin (Tammy), Justin, Watson Jr., Thomas Snow (Shalome), Kronin Snow, Adam Northpeigan (Lena). Her family connections extended through her daughter-in-law, Krista Hunter, her sisters-in-law, Philomene and Tracy Stephenens, sister-in-law, Doreen Kaquitts, as well as her brothers-in-law, Virgil, Audley, and Bruce. She will be dearly missed by her best friend, Sylvia Bigstoney (Gordan).
Donna’s family roots and relationships spanned numerous families and clans, including the Fox, Beaver, Poucette, Wildman, Bigstoney, Crawler, Young, Holloway, Morin, Lefthand, and Snow families.
Donna Kaquitts will be remembered for her enduring spirit, her kindness, and her dedication to family. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Morley Gymnasium in Mînî Thnî to celebrate Donna’s life and legacy. All are welcome to attend and share in the remembrance of Wapa tunk tunga/Donna Kaquitts.
