Donna Marie (Nee Root) Dietrich

Donna Dietrich passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 71 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years Dale Dietrich; daughter Donna (Ian) Stafford; daughter-in-law Jackie (Tim) Fawns; grandchildren Phil (Chelseigh), Taylor (Marissa), Lexi (Miranda), Mac and Shade; great grandchildren Jersey and Saige; brothers Mayne (Rosie) Root and Dan (Deana) Root; brother-in-laws Bob (Kathy) Dietrich, David (Rochele) Dietrich, Allan Dietrich and Larry (Sandy) Dietrich; sister-in-laws Judy (Darrell) Gillespie, Paula Dietrich and Maryanne (Kirk) Thurlow ; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Jasper & Evelyn Root, son Dory Dietrich, brother-in-law Ted Dietrich and sister-in-law Judy Dietrich. Donna was born in High River, AB and raised in Travers, AB. When the school in Travers closed, she went to the school in Lomond, and met the love of her life Dale on her first day of school there. In fact, Dale commented when he first saw her that day “I’m going to marry that girl!” And he did in 1966. They spent some time first on the Dietrich family farm near Lomond and then went to Claresholm and then Lomond before settling back on the family farm. They were blessed with two children, Donna and Dory. Donna spent most of her time raising the family and helping on the family farm. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading, gardening and skiing. Although, her greatest passion was her family. No matter what Donna did, she did it well. A Celebration of Donna’s life will be held at the Lomond Community School (102 3 Ave, Lomond) on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 1:30 pm.
