Doral Augustine De Maere

Doral Augustine De Maere passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Dec 10, 2011 after a brief fight with cancer. Doral was born in Fort Macleod Alberta on July 6, 1931. He attended the Stanford University in California and graduated from the University of Edmonton. He loved to learn and even went back to University in his 70’s to take a math class. Doral excelled in his career as a Mechanical Engineer and loved to come up with new inventions. His hobbies included fixing cars, dancing, bike riding, gardening, reading and visiting at the coffee shop. Most of all, he loved his family and spent many hours teaching them new things or taking them on camping trips or other outings. Doral was pre-deceased by his wife Margaret Pearl (Hawkins) and he will be greatly missed and always remembered by his five children: Julie, Roch (Roslyn), Andra, Chris, Catherine, as well as his ten grandchildren, his brother Larry (Joan) and sister Gerry (Ben) Bieche, Barbara Allen, many nieces and nephews as well as many others whose lives he touched. His friends and neighbors held a special place in his heart and he was very thankful for the good people he had in his life. The special people in his life will be forever grateful for the wonderful years that they had with him. Family and friends would like to thank the staff at the Southwood Hospice and nursing unit 71 at the Rockyview hospital. An open house will be held at Doral’s home on Saturday December 17, 2011 between 2:00 and 4:00 PM
