Payne, Doris (nee Stoodley) February 8, 1925 – February 2, 2014
Doris Payne passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years Harold; children Danny (Elaine) Payne, Randy (Meining) Payne, Hilda Payne, Dorie (Stewart) Henry, Judy (Clark) Jensen and Shaun (Dawn) Payne; 28 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brothers Lenard (Rose) Stoodley and Floyd Stoodley; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Cameron at birth, sisters Connie and Dorothy and brother Ralph. Doris was born and raised in Ottawa. After her schooling years she worked for the Federal Government and then moved to Calgary where she met and married the love of her life Harold. Doris was very artistic and enjoyed doing oil paintings, ceramics and handicrafts. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and dancing. Doris was a mother through and through and was known as “Aunt Doris” to all of the neighborhood kids as she cared for them like they were her own. A Funeral Service will be held for Doris at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – North Stake Center (5927 Tipton Road NW, Calgary) on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
