Douglas Holder passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 96 years.
He will be dearly remembered by four children Diana Paquette of Calgary, Sharon Phillips (Robert) of Raymond, AB, Larry Holder (Laurie Feser-Hamatani) of Calgary, and Janine Arsenault (James Carter) of High River; 16 grandchildren and 25great-grandchildren. Doug is survived by three brothers Albert Holder, Jim (Audrey) and Arnold (Judy); and many other relatives. Doug is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Flossie Holder; a daughter Patricia; nine siblings; and Dorothy Dignan, Sophia Van der Woerd and Muriel Olver Bell.
Doug was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba, the 7th of 13 children to Thomas & Flossie Holder. After High School he served in the RCAF during WWII. Upon returning home he earned an engineering degree from Brandon University and then began a 32 year career in oil exploration with GSI. Doug loved golfing, gardening, playing bridge and lawn bowling. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Douglas at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Coach Hill Chapel (996 Stathcona Dr. SW, Calgary) on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens
