Elfriede Binner

Elfriede Binner passed away after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the age of 79 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sonja (Steve) Steadman, Alwin Binner Jr., Dieter Binner, Klaus Binner and Sabine (Ron) Cousins; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Selma Kremkau; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Alwin Binner, parents Adolf & Martha Prokop, daughter Marianne Binner and sister Anne Tiedemann. Elfriede was born and raised in Neukirchen-Vluyn, Germany. While still in Germany, she met and married Alwin and they were blessed with six children. In 1967, the family moved to Canada, making Calgary their home. Elfriede loved gardening and crocheting and was an excellent cook. She loved to serve people which was seen in her work at Cedars Villa Nursing Home. At Elfriede’s request, there will be no Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Santuari Hospice, 3500 26 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB T1Y 6J4.
