Ellen Ruth Vasic (Nee Meisner)

Our beloved mother, sister, wife as well as friend, Ellen Ruth Vasic (nee Meisner) restfully and peacefully passed away at the Foothills Hospital on April 4, 2019 alongside her loving family. After a long battle of going through cancer twice and getting through it the first time, her family is proud to say she went through it singing and smiling with such strength and bravery shocking everyone. She leaves behind her eternally loving husband Voyo, and her three beautiful children Rheanna Jane, Clara Lena and Maxim George along with her granddaughter Gemmalena Edna and Ellens dog Milton.

Ellen is as well survived by her siblings Murray (Karen) Meisner, Brenda (Don) Tetrault, and her best friend of 40 years Sherrie (Rob) Anderson.

Ellen was born and raised in Calgary, she attended James Fowler High School and went on to receive a degree in Communications from the U of C.

Passions of Ellens included gardening, cooking, bird watching, reading/ writing and photography especially of nature, but her greatest love was her family.

She is welcomed home by her parents George & Edna Meisner, her brother Brian, and her sisters Wendy Bourassa and Georgina Lenzin.

We thank the staff of unit 47 of the Foothills Hospital for helping Ellen on her final journey and supporting her working towards making her comfortable, which was her biggest wish. Your kindness and care will remain in our memories.

Services will be held on Saturday April 20th, 2019 at 2:30 PM taking place at Knox United Church. 506 – 4th Street S.W. Calgary, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
