Enrique Ergon

Enrique Ergon (“Henry”), 90, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022 in Calgary, AB. Henry was born in Guatemala and was orphaned by the age of four. He was raised by his siblings (8 in total) and spent his early career working for the Guatemalan government, constructing highways and becoming one of the lead mechanics for his region. Henry migrated to Calgary, AB, CA in 1968 and was part of building Highway 1 from Calgary to Canmore and the twinning of the highway to Banff National Park. Henry married his spouse, Venus, on October of 1976 and had two daughters, Kellyng and Karyssa with Venus.

Henry loved bird watching, gardening, fishing and eating. Henry was a kind soul that loved unconditionally and was forever compassionate toward others. Henry was a family man, committed to his spouse, and always helping out and spending time with his daughters. One of his favourite pass times was going to Costco with his daughters and ensuring he tried every sample!

Henry was preceded in death by his brothers (Edmundo, Rodolfo, Alberto), sisters (Emilia, Lidya, Kellyng) and daughter Veronica. Henry is survived by his spouse, Venus, and his two daughters, Kellyng (Daniel) and Karyssa and his two granddaughters in Calgary, as well as his children (Erwin, Jorge, Kellyng, Reynaldo and Erick) and 21 grandchildren that reside in Guatemala and the USA.

Viewing will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Pierson’s Funeral Home (4121 17 Avenue SE) from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 14 Ave NE) on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 10:30 am with Graveside service to follow at Rockyview Garden of Peace Cemetery (243208 Garden Road).
