Evelyn Adele Buchan

Evelyn Adele Buchan (nee Rolfe) of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 71.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Buchan and her sons, Jay (Tabitha) Ryan and David (Kim) Buchan. her 12 grandchildren and her 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: John (Christine) Rolfe, Allan (Cathy) Rolfe, James (Louise) Rolfe, Marie Graden, Mark Rolfe, Carol Rolfe and many, many nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews, and maybe more people that we’ve lost count of. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Betty and Roy Rolfe, sisters, Phyllis Burgess and Sheila Rolfe, her brother, Harry Rolfe and her great grandson, Damian Byers

Evelyn was born January 16, 1954 in Montreal, QC to Betty and Roy Rolfe. She spent her childhood in Montreal where she would have her first son, Jay, in 1972. They lived there until her family moved to Calgary, AB around 1976.

In 1977, she met her husband, Danny Buchan. Danny remembers fondly that he got himself the girl next door. In 1978, they would welcome their son, David.

Evelyn was passionate about kids. She worked as a teaching assistant for 23 years. When she wasn’t working with children, she was volunteering with them. She volunteered with Scouts Canada for about 10 years. She won a Medal of Merit for her efforts. 

Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed her crafting. She did flower arranging for 2 years; doing the flowers for both her son’s weddings. She could both knit and crochet. Recently she was finding her joy in jewelry making. 

One of Evelyn’s favourite things to do was go on cruises. She often was joined by one of her sisters going to numerous ports around the world. 

Evelyn will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Please join us to share your memories and stories.

There will be a Celebration of Life Open House on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the home of Evelyn and Danny.
