Evelyn Elizabeth Eugenia Brown (Formerly Kowalchuk)
July 8, 1938 — November 1, 2015
Evelyn Brown passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the age of 77 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Karen Sohm (Don) of Calgary, AB and Darcy Kowalchuk (Marcy Archibald) of Delacour, AB; grandchildren Jennifer (Dereck), Khristina (Pablo), Vanessa, Kevin, Kaitlin (Dan), Brandon (Michelle), Devin and Brianna; great-grandchildren Keanu, Kharisma, Kayleigh, Marcus and George; siblings Gene Wenc, Marieanne (Matt), Lenard Wenc and Linda (Mervin); Peter Brown’s children Laurel and Kerry, and their families; and many other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by her first husband Joseph Kowalchuk in 1984; her second husband Peter Brown in 1999; her son Joseph Kowalchuk in 2005; and siblings Wilmer Wenc & Janett Kowalchuk. Evelyn was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She married Joseph Kowalchuk in 1957 and in 1961 they moved their family to Calgary. They started their own welding shop which showcased her entrepreneurial spirit. After Joseph’s death in 1984, she moved to Delacour and later married Peter Brown. She loved the acreage and always took great pride in riding her lawn mower and in maintaining her yard. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Pierson’s Garden of Peace Chapel, 16 Avenue & Garden Road NE (within the Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery) from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm in the Cemetery with a reception to follow. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Mustard Seed (www.theseed.ca).
