Thompson, Evelyn Maribel (Morton) April 8, 1931 – July 22, 2014
Evelyn was born April 8, 1931 in Carberry, Manitoba to John and Wilhelmina Kissock, only daughter of 5 children. She was raised in Carberry and lived across Canada during her life as a military wife. After 25 years of employment with Calgary Co-Op she retired to Claresholm and married Ike Thompson. Moms interests included her family, horses, cooking (particularly cabbage rolls and cinnamon buns), reading, country drives, casino “church”, music, and overseas travel to Ireland. She will be sadly missed by her children Peggy, Jim (Karen) and their children Amanda and Nathan, Barbara (Keith) Mann and their children Curtis and Derek and 4 grandchildren, Doug and his daughter Chantel, David (Karen) and their children Harrison and Lauren; brother, Jack Kissock of Portage La Prairie; and extended family in Brandon. Mom called the shots in life all the way to the end and had the full support of her family. Her medical care by Dr. Roode and Dr. Basinger, and nursing care, particularly Diana, and Debbie of RGH unit 71 was excellent and compassionate. A Memorial Service will be held for Evelyn at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE , Calgary) on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calgary Health Trust, (#800, 11012 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary, AB T2J 6A5).
