Evelyn Marie Sloan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Evelyn, from complications of diabetes. Mom was a sweet soul who shared her unconditional love with her family, friends and acquaintances. She always had a kind word or compliment for everybody and made sure that you left her presence feeling good about yourself. Mom had a deep and abiding faith in the LDS church and an iron inner strength masked by her gentle nature. She also had a strong work ethic inherited from her parents and applied it to every aspect of her life from chores on the family farm, school and working at Burns to raising her children and caring for her family. Mom was our primary caregiver, teacher and friend and ensured that we all had good core values. She was always positive and led by example brightening the lives she touched and we will miss her dearly. Evelyn was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Clell and her son Clark. Evelyn is survived by her children: Kent (Melodie), Craig (Jan), Cameron, Shannon Lewis, and James; her sisters Florence Cannon and Elsie Cooper and brothers Robert and John Field. Mom is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to list here. A celebration of her life will held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the LDS Crescent Road Chapel, 202 Crescent Rd NW in Calgary. Interment will be 1:00 PM Monday, August 15 at Queen’s Park Cemetery at 3219 4 St NW. We would like to express our thanks to the staff at Whitehorn Village for their years of care and the care Mom received from staff at Cedars Villa for the last few weeks of her life.
