Our beloved Frank Murray Sparks, born to Frank and Edith (Young) Sparks on February 20, 1946 in Calgary, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on August 14, 2019 with his adoring family by his side.
Frank is lovingly remembered for his content smile, kindness, calm presence, sense of humour, integrity and gentle demeanour. Throughout his life he enjoyed tinkering with electronics, listening to music, racing cars, singing, golfing, travelling the world with his family and friends and booting around on his Vespa. But most of all, spending time with his family.
Frank cherished many great friendships with his buddies from the Rotary Club, poker, U of C classmates, steam bath, dinner club, choir/church, golf, biking, TLPOA and all those he touched along the way.
Frank graduated from U of C in 1969 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career included Alberta Gas Trunkline (NOVA), Trans Canada Pipelines and the purchase of Foothills Industrial Products where he continued to work until present.
He lived a meaningful life dedicating his time and talents to Junior Achievement, the Downtown Rotary Club, Cambodia Water Project, Central United and many more boards and organizations…
Frank is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda and daughters Mandy (Greig) Kaslo and Charlie; Ginny (Danny) Lauren, Finn and Casey; and Christine. Brothers Warren (Wendy), Paul (Janet), brothers in law Grant (Sue) and Randy (Karen) and 52 nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the incredible team at the Foothills Hospital ICU and the HOPE team for their care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Central United Church (131 – 7 Ave SW, Calgary) on Monday September 9, 2019 at 2pm. Reception to follow.
