Frouwiena "Winy" Maria Mellies

Frouwiena "Winy" Mellies passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the age of 88 years. 

Winy was born in the Netherlands on March 3, 1936. She married Pieter Ebbinga and they were blessed with their sons Jasper and John. Pieter passed away suddenly and then Winy married Willem Mellies and they moved the family to Calgary in 1967 and then were blessed with their daughter Deanna. 

Winy loved art. She loved to Paint, draw, write, color, read and do ceramics. She was a home body and loved spending time at home with her family. She also had a great sense of humour and absolutely loved her animals.

Winy is survived by her children, Jasper Mellies and his wife Cindy Braden, John Mellies and his wife Laurie Mellies, Deanna Daniels and her husband John Daniels; four grandchildren, Michael Mellies, Matthew Mellies, Jenessa Daniels, and Jevan Daniels; four great-grandchildren Tabitha Mellies, Dominic Mellies, Avaleigh Mellies, Addison Mellies; niece, Bettje Rop of the Netherlands; nephew, Johannes Rop of the Netherlands. She was predeceased by her first husband, Pieter Ebbinga, second husband, Willem Mellies, mother, Frouwiena Houtman, and father, Derk Rop.
