On Friday, December 17, 2021 Mr. Gaston Durocher, beloved husband of Yolande Durocher (nee Ducharme), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the age of 75 years.
Besides his loving wife of 55 years, Gaston is survived by his children Carole Viveiros and her husband Manuel of Sicamous, British Columbia, Mike Durocher of Calgary, Alain Durocher and his wife Kathy of Calgary; grandchildren Brady Durocher of Calgary, Vanessa Viveiros of Edmonton, Alberta, Anissa Viveiros (Mike Fish) of Edmonton; and siblings Nicole Malette, Guy Durocher, Robert Durocher, Roger Durocher, Judith Durocher (Michel Menard), Mireille Durocher, all of Quebec.
Gaston was a man who has played many roles: a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend. Yet, with every relationship that existed, loyalty and caring were qualities Gaston has always possessed. Despite encountering many obstacles in his life, from losing his arm, career, and livelihood in a matter of seconds, turning provider to a receiver of care, Gaston remained strong and persevered. Although he wasn’t perfect, he demonstrated his resilience even down to his last breath. Gaston overcame all odds. Together with his wife by his side – a woman who was his rock, his life, and ultimately his reason to keep fighting. She cared for him in his youth while he cared for her in aging. Yolande and Gaston have consistently shown that one thing remains eternal despite the circumstances that life throws in your path. A love that never dies. A love that never ends.
