Gerald Allen Armey

With great sadness we announce the passing of Gerald Armey on Thursday, September 12, 2024 in High River, Alberta, at the age of 77. 

Gerald was born in Vulcan, Alberta October 11, 1946 and grew up just outside of Arrowwood on the family farm until the fall of 1969 when Gerald moved to Calgary with the love of his life, Brenda, to raise their family. 

He had a remarkable talent for repairing cars and was well known for his unique talents in the autobody industry. He loved spending his time buying and fixing project vehicles, whether it was a rolled over explorer or an old muscle car that needed some love, and in no time he could make anything metal look like it just rolled off the lot. 

He also enjoyed hunting and was known by many as an avid firearms collector and was a member of the Alberta Arms and Cartridge Collectors Association. For over 40 years he participated either as a member of their executive or with his display of his Ruger collection in the annual guns shows in Calgary. 

Gerald is survived by his children, Angela Armey, and Richard (Crystal) Armey; grandchildren, Chris, Anjila, Kenna and Desi; great-grandson Lincoln; sister, Nadine Bexte; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

Gerald was predeceased by his wife, Brenda; sister, Linda Barns; parents, Chester and Thurza Armey; father and mother-in-law, Hank and Leona Walsh; and brother-in-law, Gordon Walsh. 

A Memorial Service will be held for Gerald at Pierson's Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm with a reception and graveside service to follow.

The family has requested that flowers not be sent and would prefer memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta at alzheimer.ca/ab/en or the Kidney Foundation at kidney.ca
