Gertrude Jean Coad

Coad, Gertrude Jean October 22, 1925 – September 15, 2014

Jean Coad passed peacefully from mortality on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She spent her entire life as a shining example of love and commitment to her family and friends. She will be missed by her children Raymond (Patricia), Randy (Cherry), Cheryl (Eric), Leonard (Keltie), Valerie (Cameron), Linda (Richard), and Glen (Jan) as well as 33 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. She was predeceased just a few months ago by her husband John, whom she married for forever in July of 1945. Jean was born at Hartleyville, Alberta, and spent most of her life in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains where she loved to camp. She taught her children to be self-sufficient, and taught all around her to find the good in others, and to love just because. She gave the best hugs ever – just ask anyone who called her grandma. Jean loved children and always put her family first, sacrificing more than we ever understood to give us peace and happiness. She was also an avid seamstress, and an artist at needlework. A Funeral Service will be held for Jean at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Sundance Chapel (100 Sunpark Drive SE, Calgary) on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Visitation starting at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Okotoks Cemetery.
