Giancarla Vettori

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Giancarla, our cherished mother and Nonna, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 85.

Carla was born in Conegliano,Treviso, Italy, on August 31, 1939, to Pietro and Rosa Carobolante. She grew up in Italy, surrounded by the beauty of her homeland, until the age of 18, when she followed her heart to Canada, joining the love of her life, Lino. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising four children. After Lino's passing in 1993, Carla remarried Luigi (Gigi) and they enjoyed a life of happiness and companionship until 2001, when he passed.

Carla's Italian heritage was woven into every aspect of her life. She was an extraordinary cook, with a special talent for preparing breaded veal cutlets that were loved by all who gathered around her table. Her grandchildren fondly remember the warmth and comfort of her homemade soups and salads. Yet, it was not only her culinary skills that left an impact; Carla's joyful spirit and vivacious personality made her a beloved figure to all. Whether playing a competitive game of cards, enjoying a day of bowling, or soaking up the sun on a beach, Carla was the heart of every gathering.

A passionate traveler, she took delight in exploring new places, with memorable trips to Mexico, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and, of course, her beloved Italy. She also found great comfort and strength in her faith. As a devoted member of the Catholic church, Carla formed lasting friendships, and her commitment to serving God and others was a cornerstone of her life. Carla’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and joy. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the lessons she imparted, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carla is survived by her children, Tony Vettori, Sara Johnson, Peter (Debbie) Vettori, Marina Vettori; grandchildren, Ashley (Michael), Tyson (Melanie), Bradley (Genna), Luke, Tanner, Cody (Taylor); great-grandson, Maverick along with 1 great-granddaughter and 1 great-grandson on the way. She will be lovingly remembered by her church family, and her extended family and friends in Calgary, Italy and Guelph. She was predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Rosa Carobolante; first husband and father of her children Lino, her beloved second husband, Luigi (Gigi) Pulit.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 45 St SE, Calgary, AB T2A 1N3) on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a Public Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. 

A Celebration of Carla's Life, where we can all gather and reminisce about Carla "Nonna", will take place following the Funeral Mass in the Holy Trinity Church Hall.
