Gregory Mabley passed away on Thursday May 12, 2022 at the age of 59 years.
He was born in Calgary to Jimmy Dean and Viola Marjorie Mabley. He was the youngest of seven children. Greg lived in Calgary and attended church school until 1976 when the Mabley family moved to the family farm near Conrich. When he was old enough, he helped work the farm by driving any vehicle that could be driven – truck, tractor and hay baler. Greg loved anything and everything cars. He had the distinct talent of being able to identify a car just based on the sound of its engine! Winters often brought him out to McLean Creek and Waiparous where he snowmobiled with family and friends. As a young adult, Greg was well on his way to acquiring an engineering degree. Unfortunately, he was not able to complete his studies after a motor vehicle accident left him with a brain injury at the age of 23. Greg had a stubborn, determinism and he was a survivor. Because of his injury, he was at risk for seizures and strokes. Through this, he was able to maintain a good sense of humour. He was everyone’s favourite uncle – Uncle Greg.
Greg is survived by three of his siblings, Tom Mabley, Bev Bond, and Janice Sell; and 15 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Jimmy Dean and Viola; sister, Linda Niblow; brothers, Rod & Barry Mabley; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Bond & Richard Sell; and two nephews, John & Mike Sudds.
A Memorial Service will be held for Gregory at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Tuesday May 31, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
