With aching hearts, we regret to inform you that our dearest Gwynyth Lenore Shephard is no longer with us. She passed on July 12, 2019 at Calgary, Alberta.
She was born April 14th, 1945 in Wayne, Alberta. She grew up in East Coulee and later, Calgary, Alberta. As an adult, she also lived part of her life in Stonewall and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Gwynyth’s career started in fashion as a model for L’Oreal and later as an adult notably sharing her loving efforts working with the Boys and Girls club (known to all the kids as Mamma Bear).
She is lovingly missed by her husband, Ron Black, children, Jayson Hanus-Shephard (Lisa Arcega), Dean Hanus, Blythe Hudson and her dogs. Peacefully, she will be joining her Father, William Shephard, Mother, Edna Shephard, and brother, Trevor Shephard. Many other relatives and dearest friends remain and together, we share so many ways in which Gwynyth touched us.
She had the biggest heart and was relentless with her unconditional love. Sadly, she leaves behind six grandchildren, Lyric Anderson, Brynn Anderson, Levi Anderson, Sam Shephard, Sarah Shephard and Anders Sutherland-Black.
She did everything to the fullest. She had a bold flare for fashion and unapologetic style. When she helped someone, no direction was needed. She seemed to know exactly what to do and what to give. When she cooked, the flavours were intense, full and satisfying and no one left her table hungry. She was tireless with her time, energy and kindness. Gwynyth was always the first to dive in when invited. She acknowledged every event or milestone in our lives with big celebration and love. Recently, she was introduced to the world of texting and we will cherish all her indefatigable expressions of love or simple daily messages of hello. She never missed a moment or opportunity to share her gratitude. She gave all of herself and has literally given us all the last beat of her heart.
As per her request, no funeral will follow, but a celebration of her life will be announced.
May we all cherish our own special moments and memories of our beautiful Gwynyth Shephard, daughter, aunt, mother, grandmother and friend. She now rests in peace.
