On Sunday, April 25, 2021 Mrs. Hana Hlousek, beloved wife of the late Josef Hlousek, of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 89 years.
Hana is a native of Czechoslovakia. She emigrated to Canada on February 1, 1969, with her husband, Josef. Moving to Canada was a very difficult decision for both Hana and Josef because they left behind their immediate families and many dear friends. Consequently, Hana and Josef have returned to visit their homeland four times since relocating in Canada. Hana has worked for the Calgary Catholic School District. She has been assigned to several schools including St. John XXIII, St. John Paul II, St. Mary’s and Holy Cross. Hana retired with the Calgary Board of Education. She had many fond memories working in the school district, especially her time at St. Mary’s School.
In Hana’s free time, she enjoyed fishing, hiking, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed traveling with Josef to exotic places like Tahiti, Martinique, and Mexico.
A graveside service will be held for Hana at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in the Garden of Gethsemane at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, corner of Garden Road NE and Trans Canada Highway (16 Avenue NE), where both Hana and her husband Josef will be placed together in a niche.
Due to pandemic protocol, only 10 people are allowed at the graveside. Masks and social distancing are mandatory.
