With a broken heart, Ian announces the passing of his Dad, James (Jim) McColl Johnston on Monday, May 17,2021 at the age of 63, after a brave year long fight with brain cancer. Jim will forever be missed by his son Ian and siblings Leigh-Anna (Mike) Anton, Lori (Steve) Marshall and Kendra (Mark) Johnston-Oxamitny.
Jim was born February 14, 1958 in Medicine Hat, where he attended Riverside School and Crescent Heights High School, graduating in 1976. He moved to Edmonton to attend Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and convocated in 1978 as a Telecommunications Specialist. He worked at AGT/Telus for 43 years and was well liked by all his co-workers.
His life truest and most important adventures began with the birth of his son Ian in 1994. They shared a love for video games, walking on Nose Hill Park and their yearly trip to Banff to hike up Johnston Canyon. Every Saturday they went downtown to see the sites and activities of the day, always finishing with a “beer and a burger.”
Jim will be forever remembered as a wonderful father and a loving friend to all, especially to Dean Romeril and Mike Litwinowich. Based on Jim’s request there will be no service. He asked that you remember him by having a beer and raising a toast.
