Janet McLachlan passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the age of 70 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 22 years James "Jim" McLachlan; children Lena (Steven) Sybulka, of St. Albert, AB, Christie Warren, of Chestermere, AB, Russel (Brandy) Morin, of Calgary, AB, and James (Krista) Morin, of Orlando, FL; eight grandchildren, Madison, Kristen, Carter, Nicholas, Carson, Hugo, William, and Hudson; siblings, Sherry (David) Richardson, of Airdrie, AB, Vicki Koenig-Bell, of Roslin, ON, Tanya (Mark) Stubbins, of Swift Current, SK, and Aaron Koenig, of Red Deer, AB; niece Kennedy (Patricia) Wall, of Airdrie, AB; nephew David Middlebrook, of Orangeville, ON;and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother June Bird and father John Koenig.
Janet was born in Kincaid, SK and when she was just 2 years old, the family moved to Calgary, AB, which had been her home ever since. She started her family very young, marrying at 19 years old. Janet found immense joy in being a full-time mother, always present and ready to offer her love and support. When her children were school age she returned to working outside the home at a retail lighting store, a job she absolutely loved. Her warm and engaging personality made her a perfect fit for the role. She then attended Henderson Business College to jump start her career into accounting. She dedicated her skills to several companies throughout the years. She was known for her attention to detail and strong work ethic. Janet had a warm and engaging spirit, making friends amongst co-workers wherever she went.
Family was the cornerstone of Janet's life, and she poured her love into every moment with them. In her spare time, she loved baking, gardening, and traveling. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the many family recipes she passed down, especially her beloved bread pudding and bran muffins.
Some of Janet and Jim's most treasured moments were spent traveling to their favorite warm destinations; Salmon Arm BC, Honolulu HI, and Florida.
Janet will be deeply missed by all but lovingly remembered in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Janet's Life will be held at Pierson's Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm with tributes at 3:00 pm. The tributes portion will be webcasted at this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86713767119
