Janice Roxanne Govia
October 14, 1972 — May 5, 2017
After a courageous battle with cancer, Janice Govia, 44, of Calgary, Alberta, went to be with the Lord on May 5th, 2017. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family and friends.
Janice is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shanice; her parents, Mernel and Rostant; her brothers, Fabian and Christopher; her sister, Cassandra; her cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Janice was born in Calgary, Alberta. She attended the University of Calgary and was in the Bachelor of Sciences program. Following this, she earned a Health Information Management diploma from SAIT. She then went on to complete a certificate in Clinical Research.
Janice worked as a Clinical Research Associate at the Children’s Hospital for a number of years. She enjoyed reading and singing, watching movies and sports, and spending time with friends and family. Janice will forever be remembered as an intelligent and determined individual, as well as a loving and caring mother. She was known for her unique sense of humour and love of animals. Her beautiful bright smile and infectious laugh will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held at Pierson’s Funeral Services, 4121 17 Avenue S.E. on June 2, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Apostolic Ark Church, 4885 Hubalta Rd. S.E. on June 3, 2017 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given at coloncancercanada.ca and/or kidscancercare.ab.ca.
