Jean was predeceased by her husband Harry Newton in 2012; parents Elsie & George Knights; twin sister Joan Milburn; brother Raymond; and two grandchildren.
Jean was born in South Stanley, County Durham, England. At age 16 she met Harry Newton, and when he returned from service in the war they were married and after a few years, Noreen was born. The family ventured to Australia from 1951 to 1957 and returned to England. They took the bold step of moving to Canada and came to Calgary in 1967, where they have resided since. Jean kept herself busy with knitting, a substantial amount of family history work, and gardening in the summers. She loved to bake – especially her English favourites, and always enjoyed the companion of at least one dog. Jean and Harry loved to travel and had many wonderful experiences exploring the world. She had strong faith in God and was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jean was quiet and thoughtful. She loved her family and adored her family and they will miss her dearly.
