Jean Ione Higham

July 6, 1928 — June 16, 2021

Jean Ione (Farquhar) Higham passed away peacefully in the Drumheller Health Center on June 16. She is survived by her loving husband William George, children Mary (Drumheller), Doug (Red Deer), David (Calgary) and Isabel (Ashburn, Va.), sister Betty, along with 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Jean was born 93 years ago at home in Willows, Sask. She and George were married in Assiniboia Saskatchewan. They raised their family in Estevan Saskatchewan, Lethbridge Alberta, and Fort Macleod Alberta. They lived the last 22 years in Nacmine (Drumheller) Alberta.

Jean was raised on a farm near Assiniboia Saskatchewan. She has always been a farm girl at heart and loved to toil the soil and have a big beautiful garden. She also loved to sew, bake bread and do needlepoint.

Jean devoted her life to serving others. She blessed many, many lives with her countless hours of visits, service, and meals. She served in many capacities at church from Relief Society, Young Women, Primary and Sunday School. George and Jean served a mission in 1997-1998 in the Canada Vancouver mission, assigned to the employment center.

Jean was a woman of great faith and had a positive outlook on every challenge she faced. She is a wonderful friend, wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She loved her family more than anything and always made sure to stay in touch with her phone calls and cards. She lived a simple yet influential life and will be sorely missed.

Mom was loved by so many people. She loved visiting with everyone and loved when 2 of her great-grandkids that live in Drumheller came to visit. She loved helping anyone and everyone that needed her help.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and other staff at Drumheller Health Care, who were so kind and caring during mother’s stay.
