Mom’s long goodbye with Alzheimer’s disease came to a peaceful end at Bethany Harvest Hills in Calgary on February 27, 2012. Dearly missing her always will be her children, Erin (Creig), Jay (Nadia) and Lori (Dave); grandchildren Lisa (Crosby), Jay, Nicole, Shannon, Jordan and Zander; and great granddaughter Payton. We find comfort in believing that mom has been happily reunited with Dad (Jim) whom she was married to for 53 years. Mom was the only child of Bill and Mary Paterson and was raised in the Rainier Brooks area. Despite mom’s gradual decline in health over the past years, she will leave many remembering the twinkle in her eye, her beautiful smile and her inherent happy nature. Mom had a full life including spending time with their wide circle of friends, travelling, golfing at the Earl Grey, and winters in Fallbrook, California. Her love of animals gave mom great pleasure throughout her life, whether it was ponies on the farm as a young girl, filling the hummingbird feeder and, most importantly, her fondness towards our array of family dogs. We have always felt forever blessed to have mom (and dad) as parents. They have instilled in us key values and morals that we, now as adults, have passed onto our children. Our lives have been enriched and full of so many wonderful memories that we will hold close to our hearts; until we all meet again. Our heartfelt thanks for the kindness, dignity and respect that all the staff at Bethany Harvest Hills have shown mom in the past three years. Their special attentiveness and genuine caring towards mom leaves us with no words to describe our thanks and gratefulness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary, 201, 222 58 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB T2H 2S3. We will be having a private family service at a later date. “When someone you love becomes a memory, The memory becomes a treasure”
